GREEN KNIGHTS MOTORCYCLE CLUB CHAPTER 1 MCGUIRE AFB, NJ |
|
Message from the President Fellow McGuire bikers, The Green Knights Motorcycle Club is private organization started at McGuire back in 1999 to “To establish and maintain a spirit of comradeship and esprit de corps that will enhance the prestige of all motorcycle riders…” We currently have 36 chapters throughout the United States and overseas covering the Air Force and Army. Our goal is to promote an atmosphere where all military bikers feel like they belong to a family of bikers. To bring together folks associated with the military who share a common bond, two-wheels. We have a reputation of camaraderie and we are respected by bikers in the civilian community to include the Blue Knights, the Red Knights, White Knights and others. We have every type of bike and biker in the club; no one is excluded for what they ride. The club is comprised of dependants, civilians, contractors, retirees, and service members who reside within the military system. Some of us ride sport bikes, sport tourers, cruisers, full-size touring bikes, choppers, etc The club offers a wide array of outlets for its members. We help each other whenever we can. Whether it’s helping one another with a trailer to pick up a stranded member, working on someone’s bike in a garage, advising members on technical issues, figuring out the best gear to use, or offering decades of experience to those just beginning to learn. Riding is our passion. While some just ride to work, others like long rides or joining us for our winter rides in the Polar Bear Club. We ride all over New Jersey and the surrounding area. Most of our riders enjoy getting out for the occasional charity run, going to a bike rally, hitting the many covered bridges, or off to the racetrack to watch the races. If you are into the big trips, rallies, and events in other states, join us for a great time. The National chapter even holds a yearly Gathering of the Knights. If you’re the type who doesn’t want anything more than a chance to make new friends, hangout, or have input in what happens to us on base, and just to ride. We are more then willing to welcome you to the club. Membership into the club is more like being in a family who watches out for one another. We advise each other based on situations and opportunities without the formality and awkwardness of a labeled or forced mentorship program. On occasion, we work with commanders to promote safety throughout the military biking community, increase driver awareness, and express our thoughts on policies related to military motorcyclists. Safety is everybody’s concern and we watch out for each other, but our primary objective is to enjoy biking together. In closing, come out and meet the Green Knights family. If you like what you see, you’re more then welcome to join us. No pressure no hassles. Feel free to come out on a ride, every Sunday, stop by for one of our informal gatherings at the Anapas Country House on route 38/530 (Pemberton) at 10:00 AM. We meet up there to see how everyone is doing, then we make a plan for the day, and from there it’s kickstands up as we head out. (Check our forum under the heading “Club Meetings” to make sure we didn’t change the gathering time and location for the weekend). Hope to see you there. Respectfully, Bob Chapter 1 President Green Knights Motorcycle Club PS- If you’d like us to send out reminders to you to let know what the club is doing, shoot me an email and I’ll add you to our distribution list.
Our MissionTo establish and maintain a spirit of comradeship and esprit de corps that will enhance the prestige of all motorcycle riders. To encourage on-going rider education and skills development to help reduce the potential of motorcycle mishaps. Set an example for all personnel according to the standards, traditions, and customs of the United States Armed Forces. To operate and conduct itself in a manner that provides equal opportunity and treatment for all motorcyclists.
